I remember being absolutely knocked out by her (Oscar nominated) performance in "Elizabeth" that took the character from a young vulnerable woman to a queen fully in control of her destiny. Since then I have realized that wasn't the first movie I had ever seen her in. For, she is able to change from ordinary to extraordinary with just a little bit of makeup and a lot of talent.
