Cameron Diaz could have kept playing the cute girlfriend type, such as her first role in "The Mask", but instead she built on that role and charmed us all in "My Best Friend's Wedding" and in the megahit "There's Something About Mary".  She even became an action heroine in "Charlie's Angels".  And this year, she added a terrific voice performance for "Shrek".   But, the reason I am adding her to my list is for her knock-out bitchy role "Any Given Sunday" and her fearlessness to disguise her beauty in "Being John Malkovich".    There is a smartness and courage to her performances, which sets her apart from her contemporaries.  Here are just a few of her many remarkable "faces":
