Sean Penn started his career as the hilarious Jeff Spicoli in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and then explored many darker roles, such as in "The Falcon and the Snowman" and "At Close Range".  He has taken some more commercial roles, but his best performances have been in films like "Dead Man Walking" where he played death row inmate, who comes to understand the depth of what he has done, or "Sweet and Lowdown", as a rather pathetic man whose soul is only heard when he plays his guitar.  The layers he brings to his roles can be amazing.  Here are just a few of his many remarkable "faces":
