We recently lost our dear Uncle Fred after a short illness
in his 95th year. For me he was a quiet rock of a man, a solid citizen
who gave and asked for nothing in return. Many members of our family
got their first jobs working for Fred in his family dairy business.
When I asked my mother what she wanted to say in our sympathy card to his
immediate family, she said tearfully, "He will be well-remembered for the
things he did for so many." I think that sums it up. I know how
much his immediate family and the rest of us will miss him and his gentle,
good-natured, dignified way. He is a man of whom it can definitely be
said, left the world a better place for having been in it.
